JOY BOOTH - BIOGRAPHY

Picture
I started learning to play the guitar and write songs around the age of 16. My CD collection was ever-expanding with artists from The Beatles to Bowie, Janis to Joni, Bobs Dylan and Marley to Pink Floyd and Christy!

My greatest influences and inspiration, however, came from much closer to home. Spurred on and encouraged by a host of local sessioners, I watched and listened and learned and eventually began to play regularly around my home town.

In late 2007 I was given an opportunity to perform some of my own material at The Backroom in Navan. This was, thankfully, well-received and led to a busy 2008!

My CV began to fill up with appearances at original music sessions not only in Navan, but Slane, Kells, Drogheda and Oldcastle, as well as some high profile venues in Dublin (Whelan's, The Village, Thomas Read's). A support slot with Cathy Davey saw the year finish on a nice high note :)

With a pocket full of songs already in the repertoire and many more on the way, '09 promises to be the biggest year for me so far!! Plans to record a demo in April are well-under way and May will see my first headline gig to date!
